Mail Today!!!!

Sponsors, go get your mail!! Be Still my heart! What a treat to get my package in the mail from Dirshaye! She told me about her day and that she loves the Story of Moses and the color red and that in one word she would describe herself as "A Runner." ðŸ’œðŸ’œ
Isaiah 43:7 Says, "Fear not for I have Redeemed you, I have called you by Name, you are mine."
He knows each one of these babes intimately, he knows the desires of their heart. It is so special to get a glimpse ourselves of the sweet details of our little one. It puts uniqueness and specialness where we just had a picture before. We are so blessed and fortunate to get these glimpses into the lives of these children. For they are sons and Daughters of The Most High and will be making impacts on lives for generations to come. He has great things planned for them.

Visit our Facebook page and share something special about your child, or a picture. Look up Building Bridges - Hosanna Ethiopia. I'd love for us to have some connection on this site for all the Sponsors.

Thank you for all the prayers for the team is they are home and doing well. I know some are dealing with Jet leg and sickness so prayers for them as they get back to feeling themselves. Although a trip like this I  know they will  never be the same. I am so grateful for their love, willingness and hard work they put in to bring Jesus to everyone they met.

Letter from Christine, Prison Visit

Hello everyone.  Because I have the laptop on the trip and because you are my supporters you get an extra update today. I can’t get this out of my mind, so I will share it with you.

As part of today we went to the womens’ prison.  There were 34 women, but there were also eight children primarily toddlers and infants.  It is beyond comprehension that these children are growing up in prison.  But that’s how they do it here, and the good news is they are not separated from their mothers.

With that said, all the women, children, guards, our team and translators piled into the small chapel.  I had the privilege of sharing a message.  As I was speaking, there were four little ones sitting at my feet.  They were probably about four years old.  It was so sweet to see them sitting there looking up at me as I was talking. (When they weren’t fighting over who got to hold the drum J kids are kids after all. )

Nearing the end of our time together we got to move around the women and children, place our hands on them and pray over them.  I immediately went to the kids who were sitting by my feet.  As I knelt in front of them and placed my hands on their heads to pray one little girl looked right at me with these huge, beautiful, brown eyes.

Tears welled up in my eyes as the thought crossed my mind, “Jesus these kids have no chance!” Almost immediately after that thought I had another one, “All things are possible!”

Oh my gosh, of course they are!  I just got done speaking about how Paul redeems our past and our difficult situations, and how they can know the love of Jesus deep in their hearts.  God’s Love for them, our love for them, the fact that their mothers are in Bible studies and worship services and they are hearing the good news of Jesus Christ absolutely means they have a chance. I continued blessing them, but now with a new fervor and hope because with God All things are possible!

Thank you!  It is because of you I get to be here and experience God in incredible ways.  I get to watch him work not only in my life, but in the lives of my team and of the ones we encounter.   I am truly blessed!

I’m attaching a picture.  If you blow it up a little bit you can see the little girl in the middle with braids and a red shirt, she is the one who captured my heart.

A Letter from Pam, The Women's Retreat!

Today was a day I’ve been looking forward to for 4 months. Meeting the beautiful women from the church in Hossana. This women’s church started several years ago as an Ethiopian hero, Fantu started ministering to women who were making their living as prostitutes. Today there were 97 women at the conference we put on for them, all soaking in the life-changing presence of Jesus!

As I walked into the room and saw the worn, weathered, dark-skinned faces I saw only beauty. As I watched them worship, I saw only joy. As I listened to them pray I experienced the power of the Holy Spirit as never before. The entire team was struck by the women and their hearts for God.

We got to see God weave a tapestry today. There were many parts to the conference and each part was presented by a different person. Having only a general theme we were amazed at how each part fit together perfectly in a way that only God could orchestrate.

One of the moments I will never forget was when one of the women shared after a talk. She shared that they were the forgotten ones by their family, by their neighbors, by their community. But they were NEVER forgotten by God and they were not forgotten by the people thousands of miles away who came to encourage them. And those people are not just us, they are all of you, who have supported us and prayed for us to bring this hope to these women.

The highlight of the day was when we gave each woman a picture of a woman of Hosanna Minnesota who has committed to praying for them. We then took their picture to bring back to the women in Minnesota so they have a picture of the one they are praying for. The women loved the pictures and held onto them as if they were precious gifts. The smiles on their faces when they got their pictures was priceless.

We ended the day with the privilege of walking down to the land that has been donated for the new church and training center. We anointed and prayed over this precious piece of land that will be used to change the lives of many many people. It is also the realization of a vision that Mary-Beth and Randy Rolfe have had for years and we were honored to be walking on a living miracle!

We are blessed that the team is all doing well in every way. We are unified. We are feeling good physically and spiritually and we look very forward to a great day tomorrow as we experience the graduation of the 13 women who have completed the Danamme training program and we go to the women's prison.

Praise Report - The Lost Bag has been brought to us here at Hosanna today.  It is an incredible gift in that all that is in it is needed for tomorrow.  We are so excited and blessed.  God is GOOD!

Prayer -
We are starting to feel tired.  Pray for the Lord to continue to strength us in our inner being with the POWER of his HOLY SPIRIT!

That we'll be able to gift the women of the prison with the pillows we brought for them.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.  Pam

Time with the Children, by Matt and Katie

The day started off with breakfast at our hotel followed by our daily devotion and prayer.  This nicely set the mood for the short bus ride to the Carepoint, which is the first one that Hosanna started, and now sponsors over 300 children.  Parking the bus 200 meters from the facility, which is amazing that we can get that close with the road conditions, hats off to our great bus driver Yelika, we start our walk.  In front of us on our decent down the hill is the beautiful countryside of Hosanna, Ethiopia.  You walk in amazement of the beauty this part of the world offers.  Rich green trees, fields, and the gentle mountainous hillside is an image that will be engrained in my mind forever.  And by the way, here come the kids.
From every direction, the kids come running to us and in no time we are surrounded by God’s children of Hosanna, Ethiopia.  Our hearts melt. Each child either wants to hold your hand or give you a hug.  After we get to the building with our massive entourage we meet the leaders and prepare for the day.  We start off with short plays, first Jonah and the Whale, followed by Noah and the Ark, and then lastly, David and Goliath.  The plays are a lot of fun and the kids seem to enjoy them, really liking their involvement with the different animal sounds as the ark was filled 2x2.  After the skits, we put up a mural on the wall that the kids put their fingerprints on.  Each one stuck their little thumbs, sometimes twice, in colored ink pads and put their fingerprint on the cloth sheet.  They were skeptical of this at first but once the first few went a nice single file line turned into an all out bull rush of beautiful Ethiopian children very quickly.  Easy to imagine why because one word can some up the kids, excited.  Next we all gathered around outside, shared some bible verses, played games, and ended the morning with candy bracelets, a group picture, and prayer.  The team walked back to the bus, with our entourage which was even larger than when we arrived, and ate lunch back at the hotel.  1.5 hours later we drove back to the Carepoint and repeated the morning with the other half of the kids.
After a quick shower and change of clothes we were blessed to be invited to attend church service at Emmanuel Church.  We were greeted by the church leaders and escorted to the front of the church, where we were seated facing all the members.  Worship songs were played by a gifted group of singers and soon turned a calm night of worship into an electrically charged building ready to explode with the presence of the Holy Spirit.  The energy, dancing, singing, and participation of the church in their worship and praise was an experience that I wish everyone could see.  This was followed by an introduction of our team and finally a sermon by our own Pastor Karl Kruse, translated by our friend Nebiyu.  He delivered a great message on Daniel chapters 9 and 10 about the power of prayer and New Testament scriptures about the unfailing love of Jesus Christ. At the end of the service we shared our greetings with members of the church and then walked 200 meters uphill in the dark led by the lights of our cell phones.  Made it back to the hotel, and what a day it was.
In closing, this day was a very special gift from God.  The love felt as the kids surrounded us, hugging and clinging to our arms.  To the heartaches caused by seeing the kids who watch from outside the Carepoint fence wanting to join in on the activities, wishing we could help every kid in the world. To the support provided by our great team members at just the right time when you feel like crying tears of joy and sorrow.  Brought together perfectly by the Holy Spirit, blessing us with electrical energy of the proud and faithful members of the Emmanuel Church in Hosanna, Ethiopia, with worship and prayer.  Finally, we were guided back safely to our hotel for a night of rest, preparing us for the day ahead.

10.05.2015

Our Hosanna! Ethiopia Team 2015 has arrived in Adis saftly yesterday and with only 1 piece of luggage missing!!  Please pray for that to show up soon.

They had a full first day after their flight as they visited several homes of the sick women of the Church in Adis. This is always an emotional time as the team enter homes of sickly and very poor women who have lost much and have little. With each visit a bag of food enough for a month is purchased and given to the women. The team gathers around in prayer over the women and over the home. Sweet moments of love and Gods embrace is always felt. Healing are evident and lives are always changed with both the families in the home and the team.

The team arrived also just arrived in Hosanna after a 31/2 hour trip and are currently having dinner with our staff on the ground, in the hotel. Everyone is doing well. They will prepare tonight for their first day with the Children at the Hosanna- Emmanuel Carepoint. This is so exciting as its the first time we have visited since we have had our launch and children have all been sponsored.

On Tuesday they will then go visit the Hosanna Carepoint. They will be speaking, singing playing soccer and bringing the love of Jesus to our 500 Children .

Keep them in your prayers and I will keep you posted. Hopefully we will get some pictures of the kiddos tomorrow!!! Many Blessings,
Marybeth

Dear Sponsors,

Here is a recent picture of the Children from our newest Care point receiving their school supplies, and their months supply of food for them and their family! For most of the children this is the first time they have been able to go to school. Without your sponsorship they may not have gotten the chance. To see the looks on their faces in these pictures is priceless!!! I love it!!! They start their school year in a few weeks and they are all ready with school uniforms, books and writing material. This brings such a sense of worth and pride to these children... it's life changing.

What a summer we have had, this time of year for our team is always busy as a trip is soon upon us. It is such a sweet thing to know that the community of Hosanna anticipates our coming and rejoices with us in the constant movement of what God is doing.

With the new Carepoint opening, and our second Carepoint going into it's 3rd year, there is much happening and much to be excited about. Not only are we seeing the growth and change in these children, but also in our other ministries in Hosanna, so much movement is happening.

With the growth new things arise often and we need so much more then ever, your prayers as we seek God in these things. Remember you are a part of something bigger then just a sponsorship.

Why?

1. Our desire for these children is to grow in the knowledge of who they are in Christ, themselves and to reach full sufficiency as we provide the footstool for them... they will reach a place where they are well equipped for the Kingdom before them.

2. Our plan is to create disciples in all areas of need in the community. This started with a relationship, building trust, and helping them do for themselves what they could not do and give them a sense of self worth and pride.

3. We are stepping into our final goal and ultimate reason for what we felt called here to do. DISCIPLESHIP! All the areas of outreach, relationship building and "locking arms" with people as we journey this life together are bringing us to what Jesus called us all to do and what He came to model. To teach others to disciple so they can go and do the same. Can you imagine this? Our children, our Women once working the streets, those incased in prison, our leaders and Pastors all being taught what their worth is and what their purpose is. To be like Jesus.

This is where you come in. We need an army of prayer warriors. These next steps are big. of course not so for our Lord. So join with us in believing we will see God fulfill what He has so clearly shown us and has led us to.

Would like to send a Christmas Card to your Sponsored Child? How special it would be  for your sponosred child to recieve a real Christimas Card!!

Meet Ethiopia Impact Trip 2015

                       Meet Ethiopia Impact Trip 2015!
                        Carl, Pam, Katie, Matt, Christine
and in the back row Debbie and Lynn

HOW CAN I HELP?
This ministry thrives first and foremost because this is Gods plan and God leading every step. His plan is clear though that He needs us to carry it out. We need you, and our army of people to surround this ministry and the impact Teams that go, so that we can continue to grow as fast as God. This means us coming together in all our individual efforts as well as team efforts to listen and obey in the many areas he calls us all to be a part of it.

Pray: The most important support you can give to the 2015 Impact Team, the people of Ethiopia and the Ministry. While a small team is actually traveling to Ethiopia, their love and blessings are the ‘face’ and ‘heart’ from all Sponsor Families to our children.

In each team trip God has specific things and words for the different areas in which the team ministers. If you could pray that God will speak clearly to the team as they prepare what He wants them to bring, this is where the impact is had and this is how change happens. Pray that the Holy Spirit guides each team member, tugs at their heart and leads them to creative understanding of Gods voice as they prepare each visit.

Please also be in prayer for the team leaders Debbie and Christine as they head into a busy time of preparing the team for the trip. That God would rest upon them, give them peace and clear direction in the specific ways God wants them and the team minister.

WRITE:
Share some of your time and write to your child. This is so encouraging to them and it keeps you connected.

DONATE:
For those of you who are led to provide financial support, your contributions are greatly appreciated it will go to help pay for specific additional needs such as food or medical supplies, gifts for our women who are graduating from the Danname Training Center, a wedding gift for our long time friend, Pastor and leader of the hosanna care point, Abinet Kassa and food for Home visits to the sick.

At this point your financial contributions will be received into Debbie Ericksons fund which will be used as and transferred to our general trip funds.

The cutoff date for Sponsor contributions to this year's trip is, Friday September 26th.

Some of the things the team will be doing.
1. Home Visits to the sick women with Aids, HIV.
2. Visiting Both Carepoints of our now 500 children. This is an exciting time to officially meet all the 200 children of our new Emmanuel Carepoint.
3. Conducting the Graduation ceremony for the 15 Women who have completed the Women at Risk and Danname Training Center.
4. Women's Conference for our 80 women in the Danname Training Center. Presenting them with their official logo/sign and License!
5. Being present and a part of A wedding of one of our Key leaders in Hosanna!
6. Visiting the Women's Prision

What an encouragement to see the statistics of 2014! What an impact together we are making. Thanking God for each child, family, church and Community that each of you have helped to bring the power and knowledge of their Creator to them in a real way. THANK YOU!

I love what we are all doing individually as, a church and in countries all over the world. Below is a letter from Ken Sparks the CEO of Hopechest as well as some of the statistics of Ethiopia alone.

AWESOME FACT!!!!   Did you know sponsored children are 50-80 percent more likely to complete a university education than non-sponsored children?

You are making a difference. Write your child today at

LETTER FROM KEN SPARKS!
Dear Friends,
Much of our conversation around Children’s HopeChest this past year has focused on going deep – establishing roots, harvesting, and celebrating the fruit that comes from sowing seeds in good soil.
Within these pages are stories of restoration, faith, and hope from around the world, but these are mere glimpses of a much bigger story. Like a tiny seed that grows into something beautiful, these stories are evidence of seeds scattered in good soil – God growing something beautiful within the hearts of His people.
We hope you enjoy these snapshot moments and are encouraged to continue partnering with us, especially as we celebrate 20 years of ministry. On behalf of all those touched by Children’s HopeChest, thank you and God bless you!
In Christ,
Ken Sparks, President & CEO

Misson Trip Opportunity!!!!

Go then....

“Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the Name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and behold I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matt. 28:19-20
Screen Shot 2014-07-16 at 11.07.17 PMAs most of you know, my husband and I volunteer with an incredibly God-centered, orphan-focused, long-term child advocacy ministry called Children’s HopeChest. We have first started a ministry in 5 focus areas to the town of Hosanna, Ethiopia. The 5 focus areas being... Street Women, Pastors, Police Department, Prison Ministry and of course our children. We found ourselves with 300 children and after many of Gods leadings and promptings, we decided to partner with HopeChest &  native staff to use the tools God has given to support & disciple a specific community called Hosanna in Ethiopia. We since added another 200 children in the same area  through Hopechest. We are committed to building relationships with these now 500 kids through sponsorship, prayer, regular mission trips (Enough involvement for them to know they are not alone… but not so much they fail to recognize their own God-given potential to thrive & succeed apart from assistance.)
In October 2015, a new team is set to visit the children with a new team leaders. Debbie Erickson and Christine Uhlich, though this is their first official time leading the trip by herself, Debbie has been heavily involved in helping lead our past trip and as been to Ethiopia twice now. She had the logistical knowledge she needs, but even more important she has a passionate heart that seeks no glory for herself, but only to be a conduit for Jesus’ love. She leads well, friends. Christine Uhlich is Co-leading and is a Pastor and has led trips to other parts of the world. She is an amazing leader and has a heart for mentorship. This will be her first time to Ethiopia and I am excited she gets to see it first hand as she has been involved in helping our teams get ready in the past.
Will you consider joining the Hosanna, ET. 2015 Team Trip? Below are lots of details, but don’t let the details be the determining factor. Let the Lord lead you to know if this is your time to set aside and GO BE the Gospel to the ends of the earth!

Debbie Erickson doing what she does best...

"One person with Passion is better then 40 people merely interested."

We are in awe of God and His work and plans in everything that He did surrounding our sponsorship weekend. Jesus was in all of it. The volunteers, the sermon, the call from God and the obedience and  the passion of the congregation.  Above all the move of the Spirit.

Jesus continues to show us that he has a purpose and plan for the ministry He has started in Hosanna, Ethiopia and it involves the people and partnership with our Hosanna Congregation. What a beautiful plan. This was felt in the faces and tears of all of you who came up with you child in hand knowing you were called to make a difference and be a part of God at work in you and in Ethiopia.

So many beautiful stories that we witnessed just in the foyer the weekend. If God is moving us so mightily here... you can only imagine the movement and excitement that is happening in Hosanna, Ethiopia. This is just the beginning. Change is about to happen and lives will not be the same on either ends of the globe.

Thank you so much for your partnership and commitment in sponsoring a child. Either you are a part of our Hosanna 1st Launch that was held 21/2 years ago or you have just become a new sponsor of our 2nd launch at Hosanna,Emmanuel Carepoint. It will be a beautiful thing to watch as these two Carepoints work together and raise these children to Survive, Thrive and succeed!! Which is creating a Bridge for us to work in the community in our many other areas of ministry.

Keep updated and informed as there is so much the Lord is doing and we want you to feel and be a part of it.

As you can see in this picture all of the cards were taken!!!! EVERY LAST ONE!!!! Praise Jesus!
We do have more kids to sponsor so if you know of someone or would like to sponsor a child please contact me as we are still working on getting everyone that had a Profile card finalized first!

Big things are happening!!

I am excited to share with you a couple things we have been earnestly praying for and watching God lay before us. This is really going to be the most exciting year of our relationship with Hosanna, Ethiopia.

In this blog post I want to share with you our first and upcoming new news. Our second Sponsorship Launch!!!   We are again partnering with Children's Hope Chest in opening a second Care Point for another 200 children to receive care. We are working with another church called Emanuel Christian Church in Hosanna! We have really enjoyed getting to know the Pastors and staff,  that will be the loving Care Givers of our children. Emmanuel is an established Church of about 500 members, with a heart and a vision for this community that very much mirrors ours. There is power in partnering with people like this that will grow and strengthen the ministry and vision. This Care Point is very close to our Hosanna Care Point. This means we will be helping over 500 children in one of the poorest areas of Hosanna.

Here is the sweetest picture I took when I visited our newest Hosanna family members. They were beyond precious and very excited to get to know us and the feeling of hope was evident.

Why is this so exciting? The town of Hosanna is roughly 90,000 people. Its a large community that has grown considerably in the last 5 years. In fact when we started 5 years ago they were less then 50,000 people. So as we work in the town in the several areas of ministry that we are, we as a ministry are becoming fairly well known through out the town. We have beautiful relationships with the Mayor, the Chief of Police and the whole Police Department as well as close relationships with the main leading churches in several different denominations.

When these children are chosen they are carefully chosen with the community in mind. They reach the country sides and areas in which Muslims live and pick many muslim children as well to be in the program. As I think of why we are doing this one of my favorite verses come to mind of how Paul speaks of us becoming like minded with others so that we might reach out and bring them to Christ.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.  To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.  To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.  To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.  I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

It is a powerful thing to watch as we spread our ministry to this town of Hosanna to reach out to many in their area of need to think like they think and become the very thing that their physical bodies need so that we can be the example their hearts need to respond to their Loving Creator. It happening and its so beautiful.

We would love for you to be a part of this exciting weekend. We need volunteers to loan iPads and/or volunteer to help sign families up to sponsor there child.

The big weekend is March 14th and 15th.
Go to this sign Up Genuius website to volunteer.

In my next blogpost I will be sharing more in detail of our next big Gods sized dream and a God sized plan for our future. This is our building for a Life Center that, will be three major ministries in one.

1. A school for our children and open to other children in the area.
2. A Church
3. A Discipleship Training Center

Along with these ministries it will also be a multifaceted facility.

1. With 50 Acres of land it will give us the opportunity to use it as farm land.
2. Vocational Training in several areas will be taught.
3. This facility will provide many with jobs.

Both of these exciting Venus will be spoken from the pulpit at Hosanna Church in Lakeville, in the next few months. We are very honored that Hosanna has been behind us as we continue to seek Gods leading in this beautiful Hosanna! to Hosanna relationship.

STAY TUNED AND SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER!!!!
